The round-robin event continued Wednesday on the curling sheets in Sochi, where the men’s Chinese and Norwegian teams remained unbeaten in tournament play and the United States finally notched its first win, though the women were not able to follow suit.

Both the men’s and women’s American teams came into Wednesday action a combined 0-5, but the men were able to overcome an early deficit to defeat Denmark 9-5 in morning action. As for the women, the troubles continued, this time in a 7-4 loss to the Chinese.
Elsewhere on the men’s side, the Chinese went 2-0 with a 5-4 win over the Swiss and an 11-7 victory over the Germans. Denmark recovered from its loss to the United States with an 8-5 win over Sweden later in the morning, and Norway also defeated Germany by a score of 8-5. Great Britain beat Switzerland and Canada beat Russia to round out men’s curling on Wednesday.
On the women’s side of things, Sweden defeated Korea 7-4, Japan downed Russia 8-4 and Canada beat Great Britain 9-6. More women’s curling begins at midnight ET on Thursday.
