Winter Olympics curling schedule: The Revolutionary War is back on
In the one matchup we’ve been waiting centuries to see, the United States faces mighty Great Britain in curling.

In 1783, the United States of America won its freedom as a nation from Great Britain after a protracted military battle, putting King George III in his place.
In 2014, it’s time to teach his kin the same lesson.
The United States faces Great Britain in men’s curling at 5 a.m. Thursday in round robin action. The Americans are 1-2 and coming off a stirring 9-5 victory over Denmark, while Britain is 3-1 in play thus far, having dispatched Russia, Germany and Switzerland already.
That would make America a bit of an underdog. Just like 1776.
There’s also a measure of revenge involved, and not just for battles that were waged more than 200 years ago. On Tuesday, the British thumped the USA in women’s curling to the tune of 12-3, the largest margin of defeat in Olympic curling this year. We cannot let that insult stand.
If ever there were a day to wear red, white and blue Zubaz, grill hamburgers in darkness and snow, crank up the Kid Rock and sneer at people with cars from Europe, it is Thursday morning. Go USA awesome.
Oh, also, there’s women’s curling against Japan at 10 a.m. (ET) but it’s probably too soon to go jingoistic on that one, right? Yeah. We’re just going to leave that one be for another century or two.
