2014 Winter Olympics skiing results: Andrew Weibrecht gets silver, Bode Miller Bronze in Super-G
Bode Miller won his first medal of the 2014 Games in his fourth event by trying for bronze.
It took him four events, but Bode Miller finally got his medal if barely. By tying Jan Hudec of Canada, Bode Miler got a bronze in the Super G.
The event was won by Norwegian Kjetil Jansrud with a time of 1:18.14. Andrew Weibrecht of Lake Placid, N.Y. received a well-deserved silver medal with his 1:18.34 time putting him only three tenths of a second behind Jansurd. Mller and Hudec -- who has an interesting backstory of his own, defecting from Czechoslovakia as an infant -- finished at 1:18.67, .53 behind the winner.
Miller has become something of a celebrity for his candid interviews and New England pride, and this is his second gold medal after winning the Super Combined event at Vancouver 2010. He also received a silver medal and a bronze at the past Olympics in the Super G and Downhill, respectively. This was after his coming-out party with two silver medals and a Nike campaign in Salt Lake City 2002. For Weibrecht’s part, he received a bronze medal in the Super G in 2010.
