2014 Winter Olympics skiing results: Sweden wins men’s 4x10km cross-country
Sweden continued Scandinavia’s dominance of the cross-country sports, winning the 4x10km relay skiing away from the competition.


The Scandinavian countries have been greedy in cross-country skiing, taking 17 medals between Sweden, Norway, and Finland. That would continue on Sunday as the Swedes won the men’s 4x10 km relay.
The Swedish team of Marcus Hellner, Lars Nelson, Johan Olsson and Daniel Richardsson came town the raceway with a 1:28:42.0 time. They were the first to the relay at each of the swaps, only tying with the Finns at the halfway mark.
The Russians received a silver medal as their squad of Alexander Bessmertnykh, Dmitry Japarov, Alexander Legokov, and Maxim Vylegzhanin ended the race at 1:29:09.3, 27.3 seconds after the Swedes. They were able to shake off a slow start by Bessmertnykh to close out over every other country competing. France received a bronze medal for their 1:29:13.9 (+31.9) time, and their foursome of Robin Duvillard, Jean Marc Gaillard, Maurice Manificat and Ivan Perrillat Boiteaux got L’Hexagone their first skiing medal of the Games.
No other country came within a minute of the Swedish team, who received their seventh medal of the cross-country skiing discipline. The American team came in 11th place with a 1:33:15.1 (+4:33.1) time.
