Sochi Olympics 2014 figure skating results: United States makes history once again
Meryl Davis and Charlie White become first American duo to win ice dance Olympic gold.

Russia may lead the way in the world of figure skating in Sochi thus far, but the United States pushed that dominance aside for a day. Americans Meryl Davis and Charlie White won the gold medal in ice dance on Monday, becoming the first in their country’s history to win this event in the Olympics.
The duo posted a combined score of 195.52 (78.89 in short dance; 116.63 in free dance) to take their place atop the podium after 17 years of working together, as well as winning silver during the 2010 Olympic Games. Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir of Canada took silver after winning the event in Vancouver and Russia’s Elena Ilinykh and Nikita Katsalapov grabbed bronze on Monday.
The victory gives the Americans one gold and one bronze in Olympic figure skating this time around with the women’s short program and free skating still to come on Wednesday and Thursday evenings.
