Sochi Olympics 2014: What to watch for on Day 13
It’s a relatively quiet day at the Olympics, but there are still some interesting events taking place on Tuesday. Here are the top things to watch for.

The Winter Olympics roll on Tuesday, and while there aren’t many marquee medal events on tap, fans still have some intriguing events to look forward to, including the qualification round in men’s hockey and a handful of speed skating runs. Here are the top events to watch for on Day 13 of the Olympics.
Men’s ice hockey
With group play done with, it’s now or never for the teams in Tuesday’s qualification round. The United States, Canada, Finland and Sweden have already advanced to the quarterfinals, so this round mostly consists of also-rans. Russia is the top team playing, and it’ll take on Norway at 7:30 a.m. ET. The host nation is out for revenge after a shootout loss to the Americans and is surely hoping to face its old adversaries again in the later rounds.
Speed skating
The Netherlands is looking to continue its dominant run on the long track with the men’s 10000m event at 8 a.m. ET. Sven Kramer won the gold in the 5000m run and is a favorite to add another medal around his neck. The Americans are running out of time to salvage a horribly disappointing year, but Patrick Meek and Emery Lehman will be hard-pressed to turn their fortunes around.
On the short track, the women have a 3000m relay final and a qualification round in 1000m. The men will have their qualification run in 500m.
Bobsled
The U.S. men became the first two-man American bobsled team to get on the podium since 1952 on Monday, and their female counterparts will try to follow suit in the women’s two-person runs. Team USA has three teams in this event, which has two runs on Tuesday and concludes with the medal round on Wednesday. This round starts at 10:15 a.m. ET.
Freestyle skiing
The men’s ski halfpipe takes place Tuesday, with the medals set to be handed out sometime after 12:30 p.m. ET. This is the first year that ski halfpipe is included in the Olympics, so the field could be wide open to start things off. Aaron Blunck, David Wise, Lyman Currier and Torin Yater-Wallace are the Americans competing in this event. The U.S. has had a successful run in freestyle skiing so far, bagging five medals and sweeping the podium in men’s slopestyle.
