How to watch Winter Olympics 2014 online, TV schedule and more

Team USA hockey rules the penultimate day of Olympic action, plus snowboarding and primetime exhibition figure skating.

SB Nation 2014 Winter Olympic Coverage

NBC’s second-to-last day of Olympics coverage is completely worth it, with Team USA aiming for a bronze medal in men’s hockey, snowboarding and team pursuit speed skating all on the docket. And get excited for the figure skating gala -- seriously. We’ll explain.

As it’s a weekend, you’ll want to have the TV turned to NBC for most of the day’s action, with one key exception: the hockey. The United States and Finland face off for the bronze medal on NBCSN with coverage starting at 10 a.m. ET; the game is also being replayed at 6 p.m. on the same network.

NBCSN also has the biathlon and early parallel slaloms as they happen live (like, earl,y early morning), but you’ll be able to see that coverage on NBC later in the day.

NBC’s Saturday primetime is a beautiful Olympic mélange, with coverage devoted to the whole mix: alpine skiing, bobsledding, biathlon, snowboarding and the ever-popular figure skating gala, an exhibition where everyone just goes out there and does whatever. It’s kind of wonderful to see all these people who fell and had awful Olympics on the ice turn around and put on one last show, sacrificing the difficulty for something flawless and joyous. No judging, no grousing about the judging, just all dancing around.

Unfortunately, the primetime coverage will be your only chance to see the men’s slalom, unless you’re watching online; even with the prime live time slot of 11:15 a.m. ET, with no Americans in serious competition for gold, it’s not a high priority for NBC. So check it out online. And about that -- please, permit us an aside.

All events are (as always) shown online at NBCOlympics.com/video. And with NBC holding exclusive media rights in the United States, that’s your only legitimate portal for watching the games online. Sure, some skeevy person may come to you with a link to watch it elsewhere, but that’s the Internet version of someone telling you to drive 70 mph on a city street because you’ll get there quicker. Technically and in a bubble, that’s true, but it’s illegal and dangerous and makes everything worse for everyone else, so don’t do it please.
