Ryan Griffiths is leaving the A-League again. The Adelaide United midfielder is bound for Malaysian Super League club FA Sarawak with immediate effect, according to a club press release. Griffiths, who only transferred in at Adelaide in January, now departs having played just four times for the Reds. He scored his only goal to dramatically equalize in the 90th minute against Melbourne Heart on January 25.

The 32-year-old attacker is on the move again, this time after only two months.

Adelaide football director Michael Petrillo explained the move today, saying:
“It was a difficult decision to release Ryan as it’s not a great time to lose a player with only five games remaining and still competing to make the finals, particularly now we are outside of the transfer window period. However he received a very good two year offer from Sarawak and we were not in a position right now to offer him a contract extension due to his lack of recent game time. Therefore the club didn’t want to stand in his way and we were able to quickly negotiate a transfer agreement with Sarawak that we were all comfortable with.”
After suffering a concussion and a shin injury, Griffiths simply never took off at Adelaide. The Reds are currently in fifth place having just suffered defeat at the hands of Brisbane Roar on Sunday. Though without much a contribution from Griffiths this season, his departure will be more of a blow to depth than production counted on for a late finals push.
