The Kansas big man is expected to go very high, possibly No. 1 overall.

Joel Embiid will indeed enter the 2014 NBA Draft, reports Yahoo!'s Adrian Wojnarowski. Embiid, a first-year Kansas Jayhawk, is expected to be one of the top picks in June, if not the top pick. DraftExpress currently slots Embiid at No. 2 behind teammate Andrew Wiggins.

Embiid is a 7-foot center from Cameroon who only recently began playing organized basketball. He is considered to have improved greatly at Kansas, serving as an elite defensive anchor while showing nascent skill on offense and a thirst for knowledge. He is often compared to a young Hakeem Olajuwon.

Given the impact defensive centers have on team success at the NBA level -- the league’s top three defenses currently feature Roy Hibbert, Joakim Noah and Andrew Bogut -- Embiid has a strong case to be No. 1 overall, depending on the needs of the team picking there.

The Bucks, Sixers and Magic are the favorites to win the No. 1 pick, though the field has a good chance based on how the lottery is set up.

Embiid is just 20 years old.
