Cristiano Ronaldo out for 15 days, will miss Copa del Rey final

Reports in Spain claim that the Portuguese forward faces a short spell on the sidelines after tearing a muscle in his thigh.

Real Madrid have suffered a blow to their hopes of completing , as Portguese goal-monster Cristiano Ronaldo will sit out the next couple of weeks with a torn thigh muscle. According to the Spanish newspaper AS:

Assuming that time frame is accurate, Ronaldo will miss Saturday's home game against Almeria as well as the Copa del Rey final against Barcelona, on Wednesday 16 April. He would also miss the first leg of Madrid's Champions League semi-final, against either Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich or Chelsea, which is scheduled for 22 or 23 April. He should however be fit in time for the second leg the following week.

It is appears that this is a different injury to the one that kept Ronaldo out of the second leg of the Champions League quarter-final against Borussia Dortmund, a game that saw him hopping around anxiously on the sidelines as Madrid lost 2-0 and progressed only by the skin of their teeth. Madrid will be hoping that he heals quickly, and that Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema will be able to pick up the goalscoring slack.

Update: Madrid have confirmed the injury to Ronaldo’s left hamstring. They have not, however, provided an estimate as to the length of time he’ll be out.
