Aaron Harang flirts with a no-hitter...again

So predictable.

Adam Hunger-USA TODAY Sports

Atlanta Braves right-hander Aaron Harang threw 121 pitches in seven innings in another no-hit bid on Friday night against the Mets. He nearly put one together with his first start of the year against Milwaukee. Harang against New York struck out five and walked six including two in the bottom of the seventh.

Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez would have to be a pretty cruel human being to pull Harang after seven, but he did. Luis Avilan relieved Harang in the eighth, and allowed a single to David Wright.

The Braves have gotten a surprisingly good start from Harang so far this year. He’s put up a 0.70 ERA in four starts, with opposing hitters just 9-for-82 (.109) against him. Harang has allowed just two runs in four starts.

The last Braves no-hitter was on April 8, 1994 by Kent Mercker at Dodger Stadium. Harang is already one of five Braves to have multiple starts allowing two or fewer hits in the team's first 16 games since 1914. Nobody had three, until Harang.
