Mark Trumbo was diagnosed with a stress fracture in his left foot, according to Nick Piecoro of AZCentral Sports.
Mark Trumbo has stress fracture in left foot
Things go from bad to worse for Arizona, which loses its star outfielder.

The centerpiece of the Diamondbacks' offseason, Trumbo has performed mostly as anticipated, leading the National League with seven home runs but struggling to hit for average or get on base (.210, .264). He told Jody Jackson of Fox Sports Arizona that he had a stress fracture in his right foot toward the end of the 2011 season that kept him out for five-and-a-half months, but that this injury was not as severe.
Never a strong fielder, the 28-year-old Trumbo has struggled mightily in left field thus far this season, with this injury perhaps contributing. Any lost playing time will severely impact the struggling Diamondbacks lineup, as he was one of their few sources of power. A.J. Pollock will likely remain in centerfield with Cody Ross playing more regularly in left field as a result of the injury, leaving Arizona with a shorter bench.
As Trumbo goes for a second opinion, the Diamondbacks will hope that it’s not severe, as losing Trumbo would be a huge blow to any chance they have of saving their foundering season.
