We’re just minutes away from the 139th running of the Preakness Stakes, with a scheduled post time of 6:18 p.m. ET. There’s been plenty of action thus far at Pimlico Race Course but the main event is coming up. As expected, Kentucky Derby winner California Chrome is still the favorite to come out ahead in this, the shortest race of the Triple Crown.
Preakness Stakes odds 2014: California Chrome remains the favorite
California Chrome is, as expected, the favorite to win the Preakness Stakes just before the race.

Preakness Stakes
The lines have changed significantly since the morning, including a change in the top three. Social Inclusion and Kid Cruz round out the top three. Kid Cruz was originally back at 20-1 odds, but is now at 10-1 in third. Bayern was in third and has now dropped to fifth at 11-1. Pablo Del Monte was already one of the bottom two and is now a 30-1 longshot to come out victorious -- previous odds had the horse as low as 60-1 odds earlier in the day.
There was some talk about an injury to California Chrome on Thursday, with a blister found in the horse’s throat, but that has since been taken care of, as evidenced by California Chrome’s standing in the favorites.
