In the midst of assembling one of the nation’s best recruiting classes, one of the few causes for consternation among Texas A&M Aggies fans has been the visits planned by five-star Gladewater (Texas) defensive tackle Daylon Mack.
Five-star Texas A&M commit Daylon Mack cancels summer visits
The news has been exceeding good in recruiting for the Aggies this week.
Following the Wednesday pledge of five-star Allen (Texas) quarterback Kyler Murray and before the expected Thursday pledge of four-star Houston (Texas) Cypress Ridge wide receiver Kemah Siverand, Mack added to the week’s good vibes for the maroon and white faithful with an impactful six-word tweet:

Mack had been planning on visiting LSU, Alabama, and Auburn this summer, in addition to considering a trip to childhood favorite Texas. And the announcement doesn’t necessarily mean that Mack won’t take one or more official visits in the fall, but it does significantly decrease the odds of him decommitting before Signing Day and gives the A&M staff some more time to convince him not to take those potential visits either.
A consensus five-star prospect, Mack is still the highest-rated Aggie pledge in the 2015 pledge, even after the addition of Murray on Wednesday. The No. 12 player nationally, Mack is the No. 2 defensive tackle and the No. 3 player in the state of Texas according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.
As one of the quickest defensive tackles in the country coming off the ball and a supremely gifted athlete overall, Mack is a key centerpiece in the A&M efforts to resurrect a defense that ranked No. 86 nationally last year in the F/+ metric.
