The Knicks’ star is expected to become a free agent, despite Knicks president Phil Jackson’s wishes that he stay under contract for one more season until the Knicks have enough cap room to find him another star.

Jackson, the Knicks president, has urged Anthony both publicly and privately to stick around for one more season until 2015, when the Knicks have cap room to acquire another star alongside him. Jackson will make his final push with new coach Derek Fisher in a meeting on Tuesday, according to Chris Herring of the Wall Street Journal.
However, it appears Anthony will instead test the open market, where he’ll surely have a number of suitors. One such team is the Miami Heat, who reportedly hope to convince Anthony to take less money to join LeBron James, Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade. The Chicago Bulls are likely to chase Anthony, as well.
