Vanderbilt and Virginia are each just one win away from the 2014 College World Series finals, but they’ll have to get past a pair of dangerous clubs before they get there. Vanderbilt takes on Texas for the first time of the tournament on Friday afternoon, and later in the evening Virginia squares off against an Ole Miss team they needed a ninth-inning walkoff to take down last week.
College World Series 2014 schedule: Vanderbilt, Virginia trying to advance to finals
Vanderbilt faces Texas while Virginia looks to get past Ole Miss for a second time in Omaha.

College World Series
Because the Commodores and Cavaliers are both undefeated, Texas and Ole Miss will each need two wins in a row to advance to the finals.
Texas survived a nail-biter on Wednesday, using the first home run of this College World Series to squeak by UC Irvine, 1-0.
On the mound, the Longhorns will turn back to ace Nathan Thornhill, who allowed two runs off six hits in an opening loss to UC Irvine. Vandy head coach Tim Corbin has elected to give ace Carson Fulmer one more day’s rest, and will instead give sophomore Tyler Ferguson his first start in over a month. Fulmer would be in line to start Saturday if necessary.
Virginia will give sophomore righty Josh Sborz his first start since pitching seven shutout innings against Maryland in the super regionals. Ole Miss head coach Mike Bianco is still deciding on his starter. He could go with ace Chris Ellis on five days rest, or turn to Jeremy Massie or freshman Evan Anderson.
