Stage 8 of the 2014 Tour de France seemed a typical course until the final 25 kilometers or so, which included two stage two and a stage three climb to finish out the stage. Blel Kadri stormed to the lead on the climb and eventually took over, going solo the rest of the way to finish as Stage 8’s winner. He’s the first frenchman to win so far in the 2014 race.

The eighth stage of the 2014 Tour de France ended with Blel Kadri taking a late lead and soloing to the finish line.


Kadri finished with a time of thee hours, 49 minutes and 28 seconds with Alberto Cantador a full two minutes behind him in second place. With the win and yellow shirt, Kadri climbed 34 spots in the individual points rankings to be now eighth overall.
Astana Pro teammates Vincenzo Nibali and Jakob Fuglsang remained in first and second place in the overall classification after Stage 8, respectively.
