The men’s singles final for the 2014 Wimbledon Championships is set as both top seed Novak Djokovic and fourth seed Roger Federer advanced in Friday’s semifinals at the All England Club.

Federer holds the edge in the storied history between the two, 18-16 in 34 career matches.

Djokovic advanced to the Wimbledon final after defeating Grigor Dimitrov in four sets, 6-4, 3-6, 7-6, 7-6. Dimitrov, the 11th seed, is enjoying his finest year, advancing to his first-ever Grand Slam semifinal at Wimbledon after making his first quarterfinals at the Australian Open earlier this year.
Djokovic is now in the Wimbledon final for the second year in a row and hopes to avoid the same fate as last year when he was swept in the final in three sets by Andy Murray. His opponent will be a very familiar face in Federer, who holds an 18-16 edge in 34 career matches. The pair have met three times already in 2014, with Federer winning two of three. They have not met in a Grand Slam final, however, since 2007’s U.S. Open, which Federer also won in straight sets.
Federer advanced to his ninth Wimbledon final after soundly defeating No. 8 seed Milos Raonic, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4. Raonic, who was playing in a Grand Slam semifinal for the first time, is winless in five career matches against Federer.
