Nursing a one-run lead over the Giants in the seventh inning, the White Sox threw out Gregor Blanco at home plate for the second out of the inning. But upon instant replay review, the call was overturned due to a violation of Rule 7.13 because Chicago catcher Tyler Flowers was blocking the plate before receiving the ball.
Robin Ventura angry at umpires, kicks dirt at home plate

White Sox manager Robin Ventura, as you might imagine, was displeased that the game was now tied at 1-1.

Ventura was angry because a similar call went against the White Sox the night before, with Giants catcher Buster Posey in a similar position as Flowers, but deemed to have not blocked the plate.
With so many replays this year, we haven’t really seen many good umpire-manager arguments, as Grant Brisbee noted way back in April, so this Ventura tirade ranks near the top of 2014 manager implosions.
Ventura wasn’t alone in his implosion. The Sox went on to allow six more runs in the inning.
“This rule is B.S., that’s what it is. Pure, simple B.S,” Ken “Hawk” Harrelson called on the WGN television broadcast after the tying run score. “It’s not baseball!”
After the Giants took a 5-1 lead, Harrelson was downright angry.
“Next thing you know we’ll have catchers wearing skirts out there,” Harrelson growled.
