Atlético Madrid, Torino, agree deal for Alessio Cerci

27-year-old Alessio Cerci is set to join the defending La Liga champions, pending a medical.

Atlético Madrid have reached an agreement with Torino for the transfer of Italy forward Alessio Cerci, the defending La Liga champions announced on Sunday. Atléti, who've lacked a certain spark after the summer sale of Diego Costa -- they drew 1-1 in their opening match before scraping past newly-promoted Eibar on Saturday -- are obviously hoping that the 27-year-old, one of the top wide players in Serie A last year, will provide more firepower and pace to a flagging attack.

Cerci, formerly of Roma and Fiorentina, scored 13 goals in 36 league appearances in 2013/14, and is set to sign a three-year deal that will keep him at the Vicente Calderon through June 2017. Personal terms, however, have not been finalised, and Cerci still needs to undergo a medical before the move can be made official. Rumour has it that the fee will end up being around €19 million after bonuses, well worth it if he ends up reinvigorating Atléti's attack.
