Greg Oden arrested, facing felony battery charge in Indiana

The center has been charged with battery following an incident in his home state of Indiana.

Greg Oden, the No. 1 pick of the 2007 NBA Draft who last played for the Miami Heat, has been arrested and charged with felony battery in Lawrence, Ind., as first reported by FOX 59 News in Indianapolis. Oden grew up and attended high school in Lawrence before starring at Ohio State in 2006-07.

FOX 59 reports that Oden is accused of punching a woman. According to a police report posted by Indianapolis newsman Bruce Kopp, Oden admitted to hitting the victim. The Indianapolis Star reports that the home belongs to Oden's mother, and according to the police report Oden and the alleged victim had dated for two years but recently split.

Oden is currently a free agent. He has played sparingly in his NBA career due to a rash of knee and foot injuries. He was drafted No. 1 overall by the Portland Trail Blazers in 2007.
