There will be two European teams among the last four at the League of Legends World Championship. Domestic champions Fnatic took a surprising sweep over Edward Gaming Saturday, putting forward a dominating performance to secure a spot in the semis.
League of Legends World Championship 2015 scores: Fnatic sweeps Edward Gaming to advance to semis
Fnatic becomes the first team ever to make three Worlds semifinals.

These two teams played at the Mid-Season Invitational, the last international tournament before Worlds and a contest EDG won. Edward Gaming won that game fairly easily, but Fnatic has since replaced Steelback with Rekkles as the team’s AD Carry.
There wa a change for EDG as well. After an inconsistent performance by the team in group stages, Koro1 has been subbed in at the top lane in favor of AmazingJ. Koro1 was the team’s starting top laner at MSI, and controlled the top lane against Huni in that game. But EDG finished 1-6 with him in playoffs, forcing the previous change to AmazingJ.
Fnatic joins Origen and SKTelecom T1 in the next round, and will face the winner of Sunday’s KT Rolster vs. KOO Tigers series in the semifinals in Brussels.
Game 1
Fnatic 21-16, 38:28
Bans: Kalista, Lulu, Tahm Kench; Mordekaiser, Gangplank, Elise
| FNC | KDA | CS | EDG | KDA | CS |
| Huni (Jarvan IV) | 5/6/11 | 271 | Koro1 (Fiora) | 8/5/4 | 317 |
| Reignover (Rek'Sai) | 2/5/12 | 127 | Clearlove (Gragas) | 2/6/10 | 120 |
| Febiven (Viktor) | 5/1/10 | 347 | PawN (Twisted Fate) | 5/5/7 | 314 |
| Rekkles (Kennen) | 9/2/5 | 393 | Deft (Jayce) | 1/2/7 | 359 |
| Yellowstar (Alistar) | 0/2/14 | 56 | Meiko (Thresh) | 0/3/8 | 41 |
Reignover was caught out of position trying to steal Clearlove’s Raptors five minutes in, but managed to make his way back to the lane to get some help from Febiven and a teleporting Huni. PawN took out Reignover, but not before Febiven took out PawN for First Blood. Reignover attempted to gank top a few minutes later, but Clearlove perfectly timed his appearance to cut the Fnatic jungler off. The 2 vs. 2 never happened, and EDG won both 1 vs. 1s to make it 3-1.
Edward Gaming brought Clearlove and PawN up top to dive Huni, but Reignover was in the area to help. It was still a 3 vs. 2, however, and despite Fnatic’s best efforts both Huni and Reignover went down (Koro1 also went down, thanks to Reignover). Febiven’s follow-up was enough to even up the fight, however, taking out Clearlove for his second kill of the game.
It looked like Fnatic was going to be able to take an advantage by diving PawN in the middle lane, but a perfect lantern from Meiko saved him at the last second. EDG picked up three kills in the ensuing chaos, taking a 2k gold advantage.
Fnatic was finally able to find the team fight they were looking for, trapping EDG in the river and taking out three thanks to a large chunk of AOE damage from Febiven. FNC went for a risky Baron immediately after and got it, picking up another two kills after the fight and picking off Koro1 and Clearlove a few minutes later to tie the kill score at 10-10.
Fnatic won another big team fight right before Baron, securing the objective for a second time in a row. Koro1 and PawN tried to sneak into the Fnatic base to take the bottom inhibitor, but Febiven and Huni were able to make it back in time to take out both of them.
Fnatic was able to use the Baron buff to take two inhibitors, but the European side stuck around for too long top lane waiting for super minions in the other two. A perfect Explosive Cask by Clearlove separated Febiven from the rest of the team, and EDG picked up the team fight 5-1.
FNatic picked up its third consecutive Baron at 37 minutes, and won the ensuing team fight 4-1.

— LoL Esports #Worlds (@lolesports) October 17, 2015 Febiven picked up another kill on Koro1, and then Huni used his massive top lane gold advantage to solo kill Koro1. Fnatic focused mid to pick off PawN with Rekkles, giving Fnatic a 3k gold lead. Febiven continued to control the game, picking up seven kills in the first 20 minutes and giving Fnatic a 9-4 lead.
A dominating 3-0 fight for Fnatic at 23 minutes picked up two kills for Rekkles (and another for Febiven), setting up the first Baron of the game uncontested. Fnatic was able to use the buff to break EDG’s base with two inhibitors taken, and returned to the base to end it with ease.

Fnatic picked up First Blood seven minutes in, as Huni teleported behind Koro1 to trap him into a 1 vs. 4. It was the ninth straight First Blood for Fnatic out of nine Worlds games. A big team fight went EDG’s way to give them the 7-5 kill advantage, but Fnatic still held the slight gold lead.
Fnatic successfully rushed a Baron at 27 minutes, and followed up with a 3-1 team fight to take a more commanding lead. Fnatic forced another fight soon after, winning that one 3-0 and breaking open the EDG base by taking the top inhibitor.
Fnatic took the next Baron, won the ensuing team fight 4-1 and marched into the base for the game and the series.
