Anyway, Sianis apparently cursed the Cubs, saying they would never win a World Series again -- the stories vary as to whether that applied to a home or away victory, but you get the point.
The Cubs finished second in the National League East Division in 1969 behind the Mets (who won 100 games), and finished with an 8-10 record vs. the Mets. Seems innocuous ... except, the Mets won the World Series that year. Guess that double-dose of Metsness mattered after all.
Well, since 1945 the Cubs haven’t made it to the World Series. It would seem the team has had some help -- or hindrance -- along the way. In fairness it all goes back to the last time the Cubs won it all. But either way, things aren’t looking good for the upcoming Mets-Cubs series, where they’ll have to face Daniel Murphy.
