League of Legends 2015 World Championship results, plus 3 things to know from an explosive Day 2
North America’s undefeated record from Day 1 does not continue, SKT and EDG ease to victories again and Origen pulls off the tournament’s biggest upset to date.

After an exciting first day of Worlds, we were treated to some major upsets and strong performances Friday in Paris.
Origen pulled off a massive upset of LGD Gaming in undoubtedly the game of the tournament, while TSM provided North America’s first loss of the tournament. SKT and EDG each had easy times with their second games, and will kick off the action Saturday morning with a highly-anticipated matchup.
Flash Wolves recorded the first victory for a Taiwanese team in the tournament, upsetting the KOO Tigers
Three things to know from the day’s action:
1. xPeke never left. One of just a few players at this year’s tournament with a Worlds championship already under his belt, Origen’s mid laner was widely criticized for his play in the regular season. Before the game, announcers speculated he was the weak point of the team ahead of a matchup against strong Group D favorites LGD Gaming. Then xPeke put together a 6/1/9 game as Orianna, recording a crucial quadra kill to help lead Origen to the stunning victory.
Oh, and that victory was achieved when Soaz pulled an xPeke with the backdoor.
2. The West had a mixed day. Origen had the biggest win of the tournament so far (in undoubtedly the best game), but TSM was run over by KT Rolster in its 2015 Worlds debut. Bjergsen had a solid game, but the same issues that haunted TSM in the spring split appeared in Paris -- a lack of help around him. H2K lost as expected to EDG, pushing its record to 0-2 after having to play SKT and EDG.
But there’s hope in Counter Logic Gaming. After a shaky Day 1 resulted in a win against Flash Wolves (who looked good in their own right Friday, CLG followed that up with a dominating performance against paIN Gaming to improve to 2-0. Doublelift came through with the first double-double of the tournament, sporting a perfect 10/0/10 line, and CLG’s chances of advancing out of the group stages are looking very good.
3. Okay, the VERY NEXT GAME is SKTelecom T1 vs. Edward Gaming. Saturday. 8 a.m. Eastern. These look like clearly the two best teams in the tournament at the moment (although there are others that look strong), and we get to see Clearlove versus SKT’s laners! Deft + Meiko vs. Bang + Wolf! Faker vs. PawN! AHHHHHH!
Full stats and recaps from the day are below.

Bjergsen was able to bully Nagne early, getting a solo kill 14 minutes in.
The early game looked good for TSM against KT, especially with this #Worldsbigplay from Bjergsen! https://t.co/PeT15ObJbe
— LoL Esports (@lolesports) October 2, 2015 KT was able to follow that up with a successful team fight on the back of Ssumday, turning that into two turrets. A horrible Baron fight for TSM at 28 minutes saw Bjergsen get caught out of position, dying in the Baron pit. That allowed Nagne to catch up and KT to secure an 8-3 lead and Baron, turning the tide of the match.
KT was able to snowball from that point, routing TSM for the easy win. After a strong start from Ssumday, Score and Arrow were able to take over for KT, finishing with perfect KDAs.

— LoL Esports (@lolesports) October 2, 2015 LGD Gaming vs. Origen
Origen 16-10, 43:29
Bans: Varus, Gangpank, Darius; Mordekaiser, Lee Sin, Rek’Sai
| LGD Gaming | KDA | CS | Origen | KDA | CS |
| Acorn (Malphite) | 2/1/3 | 244 | Soaz (Vladimir) | 0/3/8 | 318 |
| TBQ (Vi) | 0/6/1 | 128 | Amazing (Elise) | 3/3/9 | 127 |
| GODV (Lulu) | 1/1/6 | 388 | xPeke (Orianna) | 6/1/9 | 429 |
| imp (Kog'Maw) | 7/4/2 | 413 | Niels (Kalista) | 6/0/9 | 384 |
| Pyl (Braum) | 0/4/7 | 54 | Mithy (Annie) | 1/3/14 | 22 |
xPeke earned First Blood on TBQ after some shifty jungle coordination from Origen to counter an Acorn teleport, but LGD was able to take the lead a few minutes later with a double kill from imp.
imp’s third kill came through on LGD’s first Dragon 21 minutes in, and his fourth came moments later on Mithy. Niels took out Pyl in the fight to keep Origen close, and a Niels kill on TBQ appeared to give Origen an opportunity for Baron. LGD won the ensuing fight 3-0, getting another kill onto imp.
LGD forced Origen into a tough team fight situation 34 minutes in, sandwiching the European team in the mid lane. But xPeke pulled off a massive Shockwave, earning a quadra kill.

— LoL Esports (@lolesports) October 2, 2015 That set up Baron and another successful team fight for Origen, turning the game significantly in its favor. LGD attempted to go for a risky Baron 43 minutes in, and Origen was able to hold them near the pit while Soaz backdoored to take out the base for the upset.

— LoL Esports (@lolesports) October 2, 2015 Bangkok Titans vs. SKTelecom T1
SKTelecom T1 22-7, 22:08
Bans: Fiora, Gangplank, Darius; Lulu, Mordekaiser, Gragas
| Bangkok | KDA | CS | SKT | KDA | CS |
| WarL0cK (Maokai) | 2/2/2 | 171 | MaRin (Rumble) | 5/1/4 | 253 |
| 007x (Rek'Sai) | 2/5/5 | 107 | Bengi (Elise) | 4/4/9 | 74 |
| G4 (Irelia) | 2/7/2 | 159 | Faker (Olaf) | 8/2/8 | 240 |
| Lloyd (Kalista) | 1/6/2 | 168 | Bang (Vayne) | 4/0/7 | 231 |
| Moss (Braum) | 0/2/4 | 36 | Wolf (Alistar) | 1/0/15 | 34 |
The Titans banned MaRin’s Fiora after Thursday’s dominance.
Faker pulled out the Olaf mid (because, well, Faker), and took out G4 within the first three minutes for First Blood. The Titans looked like they might be able to respond by taking out Bang in the 2 vs. 2 lane, but Bengi ganked at just the right moment to secure a 3-0 lead for SKT.
That’s ... kind of how it went from that point on. MaRin solo-killed WarL0cK soon after, and while G4 was able to take out Bengi, Faker followed that up with two more kills. MaRin built a Mejai’s Soulstealer seven minutes in, and SKT was averaging a kill per minute 10 minutes into the game.
The Titans were able to secure some kills due to sloppy play from SKT, but the result was never in doubt. Oh, and Bang still hasn’t died at Worlds this year.

— LoL Esports (@lolesports) October 2, 2015 H2K vs. Edward Gaming
EDG 22-5, 36:17
Bans: Twisted Fate, Elise, Mordekaiser; Gangplank, Lee Sin, Thresh
| H2K | KDA | CS | EDG | KDA | CS |
| Odoamne (Fiora) | 3/2/1 | 297 | AmazingJ (Darius) | 3/2/2 | 291 |
| loulex (Gragas) | 0/8/2 | 108 | Clearlove (Rek'Sai) | 2/1/16 | 125 |
| Ryu (Lulu) | 1/4/3 | 257 | PawN (Kassadin) | 7/2/8 | 276 |
| Hjarnan (Tristana) | 0/2/1 | 282 | Deft (Kalista) | 6/0/9 | 344 |
| kaSing (Braum) | 1/6/0 | 42 | Meiko (Annie) | 4/0/12 | 12 |
This game started with a 5 vs. 5 fight in EDG’s jungle -- a smart invade by H2K, but Meiko managed to charge up Annie’s stun in time and took out kaSing pre-minions for First Blood.
H2K was able to turn it around after Clearlove’s attempt to invade their jungle went awry. The European side won the fight 3-1, with one kill on Ryu and two for Odoamne. EDG took the lead back by picking off loulex and kaSing, and a series of successful team fights gave the MSI champions a commanding 14-4 lead 25 minutes in.
A 3-0 team fight turned into a Baron for EDG just a few minutes later, and the game was pretty much in EDG’s control from that point forward. Meiko had a terrific game on his Annie, while Clearlove continues to make his case as the best jungler in the world.

— LoL Esports (@lolesports) October 2, 2015 Flash Wolves vs. KOO Tigers
Flash Wolves 15-7, 38:05
Bans: Ashe, Elise, Kalista; Mordekaiser, Rek’Sai, Gragas
| Flash Wolves | KDA | CS | Koo Tigers | KDA | CS |
| Steak (Darius) | 3/2/6 | 263 | Smeb (Gnar) | 1/3/3 | 241 |
| Karsa (Nidalee) | 4/0/5 | 175 | Hojin (Lee Sin) | 2/4/2 | 103 |
| Maple (Gangplank) | 5/0/7 | 311 | Kuro (Lulu) | 1/0/4 | 291 |
| NL (Varus) | 3/4/11 | 290 | PraY (Jinx) | 3/2/3 | 321 |
| SwordArt (Morgana) | 0/1/14 | 18 | GorillA (Alistar) | 0/6/5 | 33 |
Once again we were treated to some level one action, as a big pre-minion team fight gave Flash Wolves First Blood but KOO Tigers the 2-1 advantage. Flash Wolves tied it up 16 minutes in when NL (replacing Kkramer after a rough opening game) took out Smeb with help from Steak and SwordArt, and took the lead a few minutes later with Maple’s second kill.
KOO responded with two straight 2-0 team fights, but what looked like another promising team fight for the Tigers turned into disaster. Maple landed a perfect Gangplank ultimate and connected with some huge barrels, giving Flash Wolves a 3-0 fight and Baron.
After a few more team fights went the Wolves’ way, a dominant gold lead emerged. Maple continued to do major damage with Gangplank, while Steak and Karsa provided near-perfect games for the upset.

— LoL Esports (@lolesports) October 2, 2015 Counter Logic Gaming vs. paIN Gaming
CLG 23-7, 30:41
Bans: Malphite, Darius, Twisted Fate; Gangplank, Elise, Mordekaiser
| CLG | KDA | CS | paIN Gaming | KDA | CS |
| ZionSpartan (Olaf) | 7/2/8 | 187 | Mylon (Gnar) | 3/5/2 | 208 |
| Xmithie (Lee Sin) | 1/2/15 | 85 | SirT (Rek'Sai) | 1/4/6 | 82 |
| Pobelter (Lulu) | 2/0/18 | 204 | Kami (Orianna) | 0/7/5 | 241 |
| Doublelift (Tristana) | 10/0/10 | 251 | brTT (Kalista) | 3/5/4 | 203 |
| Aphromoo (Braum) | 3/3/17 | 26 | Dioud (Annie) | 0/2/5 | 14 |
For the third straight game, we were treated to a level one invade. paIN Gaming got the pre-minions First Blood, but CLG ended up with the 2-1 advantage heading into laning phase. CLG’s “Rush Hour” bottom lane followed that up with two unanswered kills, and a series of won team fights allowed the NA squad to snowball.
Trailing 13-5 24 minutes in, paIN made a risky call to take its first Dragon. The Dragon was secured, but Kami and brTT both went down. A resulting CLG Baron bait resulted in a 5-2 team fight in its favor, taking two paIN inhibitors.
A notice to all other teams: stop letting CLG have Lulu. Pobelter had another excellent game on the champion, and CLG moves to 2-0.
