LeBron says he wants to play 82 games this season, which is not happening

This seems very unlikely.

Justin Ford-USA TODAY Sports

LeBron James, already "not feeling that great" after playing in back-to-back games to open the season, told Cleveland.com he wanted to play all 82 games this season. That's great! In related news, I want to be a billionaire.

James received an anti-inflammatory shot in his back 17 days ago in preparation for the NBA season. Last year, he played 69 games, including an eight-game sabbatical in January. Never in his career has James played all 82 games. I also could be a billionaire. At no point in my life have I ever owned a billion dollars and I’ve consistently displayed poor money management since becoming an adult, but sure, it could happen!

Like last year, James and the Cavaliers are only trying to get through the regular season, knowing that their season doesn't really start until the playoffs, but sure, he could still play 82 games. I'm a dummy going into the not-so-lucrative field of journalism but hey, nobody's saying I can't be a billionaire!

Here’s what Cavaliers head coach David Blatt said: “I want LeBron to be healthy, and I want ‘Bron to come to the end of the season in the same kind of physical state that he was last year at the end of the season. And if what’s best for him is to play 82 games, and he’s able to, then that’s what it will be. If he’s not, and if I see or we see or together we see that he needs a break then we’ll give it to him.”

Personally, I hope James does play 82 games. He turns 31 this season and his health come April should come first, but his presence makes the NBA exciting. It gives me hope that the billionaire thing might work out for me, too.
