The 2015 NFL season’s first game of its annual London slate comes Sunday, with the New York Jets and Miami Dolphins flying over the Atlantic to face one another. The Jets make the trip as a 2-1 team, while the Dolphins are a disappointing 1-2.
Fantasy football advice, Week 4: Who to start/sit for Jets vs. Dolphins in London
The season’s first London game kicks off Sunday morning.
The Jets have largely the same injury concerns they’ve had in recent weeks: wide receiver Eric Decker and running back Chris Ivory. Decker traveled to London as he deals with his knee injury, but he’ll likely enter Sunday morning questionable. Ivory appears to be fine after seeing no action the last game and a half. For the Dolphins, tight end Jordan Cameron is expected to play through his groin injury.
With the game in London, the Dolphins are the home team in name only for Sunday, with kickoff scheduled for 9:30 a.m. ET. Let’s take a look at the fantasy names to consider:
JETS
Start ‘em: After being active but seeing no action in Week 3, fantasy owners would be forgiven for being gun-shy about Chris Ivory, but he looks to be fine for Sunday. ... Brandon Marshall has looked rejuvenated through three games with the Jets, and is a borderline No. 1 wide receiver. ... Week 3 was the worst game so far this season for the Jets’ defense, but the unit should get back on track in London.
Start ‘em?: It hasn’t been spectacular, but Ryan Fitzpatrick has been consistent through three weeks, with 13, 15 and 14 points so far. He doesn’t have a huge amount of upside, but he comes with a high floor. ... Nick Folk is a solid kicker, if perhaps lacking huge upside.
Sit ‘em: He filled in capably for Ivory while the latter was banged up, but Ivory’s return renders Bilal Powell a fantasy afterthought. ... Even if Eric Decker makes it onto the field, you’ll want to avoid him in fantasy. Let him show he’s healthy first. ... The Jets haven’t gotten anything from the tight end position so far; Kellen Davis will fill the role this week, but you won’t use him.
DOLPHINS
Start ‘em: He’s only been the team’s second-best receiver by the numbers, but Jarvis Landry is the best by talent. ... “Dealing with injury” is just part of Jordan Cameron’s game, but when he’s on the field, he’s a TE1. ... The Dolphins’ defense, which was supposed to be quite good, has put up back-to-back negative fantasy games. The unit gets one more week to prove itself.
Start ‘em?: People have been down on Ryan Tannehill so far, though he’s averaging a wholly competent 16.3 fantasy points a game. Tannehill was never going to be a fantasy difference-maker, but he has value. ... Rishard Matthews has been great so far, though you wonder if the other receivers will steal his targets as they get more integrated in the offense.
Sit ‘em: The optimist would look at Lamar Miller and at least give him credit for five fantasy points per game so far, but he’s just looked awful. Until he can prove something, he’s on the fantasy bench, especially against a strong New York run defense. ... We’re still waiting for the first helpful fantasy production from Kenny Stills, Greg Jennings and DeVante Parker. ... Andrew Franks was held kickless in Week 3. The offense hasn’t given him enough opportunity.
SUMMARY
Start in every league: Chris Ivory, Brandon Marshall, New York defense, Jarvis Landry, Jordan Cameron, Miami defense
Start if you’re desperate: Ryan Fitzpatrick, Nick Folk, Ryan Tannehill, Rishard Matthews
Bench: Bilal Powell, Eric Decker, Kellen Davis, Lamar Miller, Kenny Stills, Greg Jennings, DeVante Parker
