The Denver Broncos are 3-0 despite getting virtually nothing from their running game through three weeks. The Minnesota Vikings are 2-1 despite their passing game performing miserably as well. The two seemingly one-dimensional offenses face off Sunday afternoon looking to stay on the good side of things.
Fantasy football advice, Week 4: Who to start/sit for Vikings vs. Broncos
Minnesota and Denver are a combined 5-1 despite some high-profile fantasy disappointments so far.
The Vikings will be without wide receiver Charles Johnson Sunday as he deals with a rib injury. On the Denver side, all the fantasy contributors appear to be good to go for Sunday, with minimal injury concern.
Minnesota is traveling to Denver for Sunday’s game, with kickoff scheduled for 4:25 p.m. ET. Here’s a look at the fantasy names to consider:
VIKINGS
Start ‘em: After a disappointing Week 1, Adrian Peterson has been a monster for the last two weeks. He’s a sure starter.
Start ‘em?: Everything about Minnesota was bad in Week 1. Since then, things have gotten better, and that includes kicker Blair Walsh, who has an argument for starting consideration. ... The Vikings’ defense has been decent, but playing against Denver is always worrisome.
Sit ‘em: It’s been a rough start for Teddy Bridgewater in his sophomore season, with only 9.3 fantasy points per game. Until he can show some of last year’s promise, he needs to ride the bench. ... The primary Minnesota pass catchers (Mike Wallace and Kyle Rudolph) haven’t offered much in the way of upside so far.
BRONCOS
Start ‘em: The last two weeks have put Peyton Manning back in solid starting territory, although more toward the back of the top 10 than the front. ... Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders have been fantasy monsters, just like always. ... The Broncos’ defense might be the league’s best unit.
Start ‘em?: This is the last week we can reasonably wait for C.J. Anderson to return draft-day value. The offensive line is killing his potential, which you can see by the general lack of huge numbers from Ronnie Hillman. You can justify one as a flex play, with Anderson slightly above Hillman. ... Owen Daniels has seen his involvement in the offense rise each week. He’s getting used to the team. ... Brandon McManus is averaging 11.3 fantasy points a game, strong for a kicker.
Sit ‘em: There really isn’t anyone relevant on the Broncos that you’re definitely sitting. Virgil Green? Don’t use Virgil Green.
SUMMARY
Start in every league: Adrian Peterson, Peyton Manning, Demaryius Thomas, Emmanuel Sanders, Denver defense
Start if you’re desperate: Blair Walsh, Minnesota defense, C.J. Anderson, Ronnie Hillman, Owen Daniels, Brandon McManus
Bench: Teddy Bridgewater, Mike Wallace, Kyle Rudolph, Virgil Green
