It took just one preseason game for the Charlotte Hornets to deal with real injury problems. Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, their emerging small forward that has a history of injury trouble, suffered a dislocated right shoulder in the Hornets’ first preseason game against the Orlando Magic, the team announced.
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist suffers dislocated shoulder in Hornets’ 1st preseason game
The emerging Hornets forward may have suffered a serious injury right off the bat.

Kidd-Gilchrist stayed in an Orlando hospital overnight and will be re-evaluated by doctors back in Charlotte on Monday, the team announced. X-Rays came back negative.
The injury occurred as Kidd-Gilchrist curled off a screen while being defended by Tobias Harris. He fell directly on that injured right shoulder.
For those wondering about MKG, this is the play he injured his shoulder on. Hard, hard fall. #Hornets pic.twitter.com/JFuc6EBxI0
— Chris Kroeger (@Kroeger) October 4, 2015 The bad news is all too familiar for Kidd-Gilchrist, who has missed 47 games the last two seasons. He suffered a concussion in his second season and a foot injury last year. He has been effective when he plays, which is why the Hornets signed him to a four-year, $52 million contract extension this summer. Charlotte has won just 29 percent of its games when Kidd-Gilchrist has sat in the last two years.
Kidd-Gilchrist’s timetable will be determined by the tests he will undergo in the next few days. As a point of comparison, Cleveland’s Kevin Love saw his postseason end when he dislocated his shoulder against the Celtics last year. That injury required surgery.
