Minnesota’s already out of the coaching market, hiring interim Tracy Claeys as its new full-time head coach. That’s not exciting, but it’s a very reasonable decision.
Minnesota Golden Gophers have already hired their next head coach
Good morning, college football! It’s time for your wakeup roundup.

The second edition of the College Football Playoff committee’s Top 25 hit the presses Tuesday night. Clemson remains the top seed, with Alabama, Ohio State and Notre Dame rounding out the would-be Playoff bracket.
Tuesday’s big winner: Iowa, which moved from ninth to fifth with a win over Indiana, though that might not last. The big loser: The Big 12. Oklahoma State remains the lowest-ranked undefeated Power 5 team despite trouncing TCU Saturday.
This might go on forever. Or at least an extra week, because Navy has broken into the Top 25. The Midshipmen play their annual game against Army one week after the conference championships are decided, which means we could have a less-than-complete New Year’s bowl field on Selection Sunday. That and more fun numbers in The Numerical.
As for the other selection committee -- ours -- where only six teams got more than one vote.
Herman and his He-Men. Houston tops the Underdogs Poll after losses by Memphis and Toledo.
Boomer Sooner and CLANGA CLANGA. We’re still waiting for that annual week of chaos that turns the entire playoff puzzle upside down. Dan Rubenstein says it could be this week, with Alabama and Baylor facing serious tests.
Superunknown. PODCAST AIN’T PLAYED NOBODY’s Bill Connelly knows Mizzou, and he has no idea what is going to happen next in the wake of this week’s brief player strike. No matter what happens, the Mizzou football team’s ability to force substantive change on campus comes from the very fans angry about their activism.
Stop making sense. The newest Miami rumor: Alabama assistant and former Florida International head coach Mario Cristobal is in play for the Hurricanes.
Separate ways. Auburn -- yes, the same Auburn that went to overtime with Jacksonville State -- dominated every phase of the game against struggling Texas A&M.
Barrett pleads guilty. Ohio State’s quarterback pled guilty to OVI on Tuesday, bringing the criminal proceedings to a close. With his suspension served, Barrett and the Buckeyes will move on.
Buzz off. Georgia Tech wide receiver Michael Summers quit the team. He was second on the Yellow Jackets in receptions and third in touchdowns.
Even his jersey goes for more than 100. Leonard Fournette’s game jersey from the Bayou Bengals’ game against South Carolina drew $101,000 in a charity auction for South Carolina flood relief.
#MACrefs. During Tuesday’s #MACtion showcase between Central Michigan and Toledo, the referee chastised the CMU cheerleaders and band for making noise. In the actual results, the Rockets got back on track with a W and Ohio won ugly.
And so ends Clemson’s run at the top. Buffalo Bills head coach Rex Ryan wore a Clemson helmet to his press conference Tuesday and spent more time talking about Clemson than he did about his own team. Ryan’s son is a wide receiver and placekick holder on the Tigers’ No. 1 squad.
