Welcome back to Week 10 of the 2015 NFL season! For most fantasy football leagues, the playoffs are a month away. If you are in contention in your league, that makes every start/sit decision critical. We are back with another round of some sleepers to consider and busts to avoid this weekend as you continue your march to fantasy glory.
Fantasy football start/sit advice, Week 10
We’re back for Week 10 of the 2015 NFL season. We’ve got fantasy football start/sit advice as you head into the weekend.
Start
Derek Carr vs. Vikings
With 11 touchdowns and just one interception in his last three games, Carr is setting the fantasy world on fire with his play after Oakland's bye week. The Vikings might look stingy on paper, but after taking a deeper look at the quarterbacks they've faced, you shouldn't worry too much about the matchup for Carr. He's a QB1 at the rate he's been playing. Don't shy away from Carr just because of Minnesota.
Blake Bortles at Ravens
With multiple passing touchdowns in six games, Bortles is providing consistency for fantasy owners. Baltimore has allowed multiple passing touchdowns in six of eight games (one was against Michael Vick). Every quarterback with two or more passing scores against the Ravens has been a QB1 for that week. You can't pass up the matchup for Bortles.
James Starks vs. Lions
Detroit allows the third-most fantasy points to running backs. Starks is outplaying and outsnapping Eddie Lacy, and the Packers are content with the game plan continuing in this direction. The Lions have allowed 12 rushing touchdowns so far. With Starks seeing more than triple Lacy's touches, it's time to rely on him.
Charcandrick West at Broncos
West has seen 24 touches in each of his last two games. Give the Denver defense credit, they've been one of the toughest teams against the run. But Frank Gore went for 83 yards and a touchdown against them last week, Jamaal Charles and Adrian Peterson both had solid games against the Broncos earlier this season, and West is going to see huge volume again. It might not be pretty, but the amount of touches will make starting him as a flex worthwhile.
Stefon Diggs at Raiders
The rookie finally slowed down a bit last week, finishing with just three catches for 42 yards. But Diggs continues to lead the Vikings in targets (now at 35 in his last four games), and he'll face a Raiders defense that just watched Antonio Brown torch the secondary for 284 yards. Oakland has given up double-digit PPR performances to two or more wide receivers in six games in 2015. Diggs is ready to bounce back.
Kamar Aiken vs. Jaguars
Jacksonville allowed six wide receiver touchdowns in the last three games, and it's giving up 264 passing yards per game. Steve Smith is done for the year, leaving Aiken to earn the lion's share of targets. When Smith was out in Week 5, Aiken finished with nine targets and 78 yards. The Jaguars have given up huge games to DeAndre Hopkins, Roberts Woods and Eric Decker in their last three games. Aiken is a good flex play here.
Jordan Reed vs. Saints
This one is simple. The Saints allow the second-most fantasy points to opposing tight ends. Delanie Walker went off for 95 yards and two touchdowns against them last week. Reed has three touchdowns in his last two games, and he has seen at least seven targets in five of six matchups so far. Start him with confidence.
Sit
Jay Cutler at Rams
According to JJ Zachariason of numberFire, quarterbacks facing the Rams haven't finished higher than QB15 in weekly scoring. St. Louis has only given up five passing touchdowns in eight games, and Aaron Rodgers is the lone passer with two touchdowns against this defense. It's looking like a down week for the Bears passing game.
Marcus Mariota vs. Panthers
Carolina's numbers looked strong against the pass until they went up against Aaron Rodgers, who finished with four touchdowns last week. Mariota has been a far better performer on the road in his rookie season. Away games: 10 touchdowns, 0 interceptions. Home games: 3 touchdowns, 5 interceptions.
Eddie Lacy vs. Lions
Basically if you read the above piece on Starks, you should know why I’m not high on Lacy. With just two touchdowns and two games over 50 rushing yards, Lacy has lost his claim as a RB1. In his past four performances, he’s posted 78 yards on 32 carries. Avoid him until you see a change in the way things are going in the Packers backfield.
Chris Johnson at Seahawks
Seattle is allowing just 3.59 yards per carry, and only one running back (Jonathan Stewart) has scored on this defense in 2015. The Seahawks give up the second-fewest fantasy points to the position. No running back has broken the 100-yard mark against them. Receiving backs have found success, but Johnson is sitting on five catches in eight games. Andre Ellington might be the back to start if the Cardinals are serious about getting him more involved.
Jeremy Maclin at Broncos
Aqib Talib is out on a one-game suspension, but Maclin should see plenty of Chris Harris, who is graded as the No. 3 cornerback this year according to Pro Football Focus. The Broncos allow the second-fewest points to wide receivers, and in their first meeting earlier this season, Maclin caught four passes for 57 yards. Only one wide receiver has a touchdown against Denver.
Dorial Green-Beckham vs. Panthers
We're sitting Mariota, so DGB is getting thrown into that mix as well. The Panthers have given up one 100-yard game to a wide receiver in 2015. Josh Norman locks down wide receivers lining up out wide. The Titans don't move DGB to the slot often, so unless they find a way to be creative with him, it's best to sit and wait on him for future weeks.
Jimmy Graham vs. Cardinals
Graham's numbers have been spotty throughout the first half of 2015. Now he's taking on a Cardinals defense that has only allowed one touchdown to tight ends and a season-high of 53 yards (it was all Gary Barnidge). Graham is tough to sit, but if you have other options or you're in a smaller league, look to someone like Reed, Barnidge or Delanie Walker.
