With starting tight end Larry Donnell shelved the last two weeks, the New York Giants have had to look elsewhere for production at the position. That has come, at least so far, in the form of rookie Will Tye, who was targeted a career-high seven times in the Giants' 27-26 loss to the New England Patriots Sunday.
Fantasy football waiver wire advice: Will Tye sees heavy dose of targets
The New York tight end is filling in for Larry Donnell. We break down the fantasy implications.

Tye hauled in five of those targets for 56 yards Sunday, both career highs. He now has 15 catches on the season for 152 receiving yards. Donnell, out the last two weeks with a neck injury, has caught 29 passes for 223 yards and two scores.
Fantasy impact: Not many were planning on Donnell as a TE1 for the season, but after a good 2014, he came into the year with the job to himself and some theoretical sleeper value. Instead, Donnell hasn’t performed at all. Meanwhile, Tye has looked at least competent. He had two shots at a touchdown Sunday, tackled at the 1-yard line once and getting flat-out missed in the end zone on the other.
The Giants have their bye in Week 11, and Donnell is expected back in Week 12. That doesn’t bode well for Tye, but it also doesn’t bode well for Donnell. Odds are good the two of them will more-or-less split the position going forward, robbing both of much of any fantasy value.
