Things had been looking ever-so-slightly up for Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning in recent weeks. His fantasy numbers had risen for four games in a row, and seemed to have a good matchup Sunday. Instead, Manning offered maybe the worst game of his career and was benched in the third quarter in favor of backup quarterback Brock Osweiler as the team lost 29-13 to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Fantasy football waiver wire advice: Peyton Manning has miserable day, gets benched
The veteran quarterback was benched in the third quarter. We break down the fantasy implications.

Manning went only 5-of-30 passing in the game for 35 yards and four interceptions. The Broncos were scoreless when he left. Osweiler, in his first action of the season, went 14-of-24 passing for 146 yards, and a touchdown with an interception.
Fantasy impact: If you had Manning coming out of the draft, you have my sympathies. As it is, he’s been a disaster all season. Coming into Sunday, Manning had averaged 13.5 fantasy points a game and put up a negative-seven in Sunday’s game.
The consolation for Manning is that we knew he was coming into Sunday with some injury concerns, with rib and foot issues holding him up. Denver head coach Gary Kubiak has already said Manning will keep his starting job in Week 11 at Chicago assuming he's healthy, and that's always a nice matchup for a quarterback. Manning, though, has shown enough to worry about that he's unlikely to be ranked anywhere near the top 20 fantasy options at the position even if he's healthy. If Osweiler were to have the start, well, his track record is so short that it's hard to imagine throwing him out there.
