Fantasy football waiver wire: 5 quarterbacks to target for Week 11

Tony Romo is back, so he should be picked up in all leagues. Here are some other fantasy pickups at the QB spot.

What is up with the high-end quarterbacks? Andrew Luck could miss the rest of the season, Aaron Rodgers had arguably his worst game in five years and Peyton Manning may have played his last down. Meanwhile, Kirk Cousins was the top QB in the past week while an injured Ben Roethlisberger came off the bench to light up the Cleveland Browns.

Basically, all the must-start quarterbacks did not finish in the top six. Most owners probably didn’t even start Carson Palmer at Seattle, but he was outstanding with his 363 yards and three scores. Heck, even Jay Cutler had a big game with 379 yards. Cutler is also worth a pickup, by the way.

Here are five players who could help owners at various depths:

Tony Romo, Dallas Cowboys (owned in 64 percent of leagues)

He’s getting ready to a return against a sub-par Miami Dolphins defense. If he’s out there, you should absolutely pick him up. The Cowboys don’t have the strongest running game right now, so Romo should be putting the ball up a ton. His return also helps Dez Bryant, who has been very disappointing since returning from his foot injury.

Blake Bortles, Jacksonville Jaguars (owned in 73 percent of leagues)

He’s been really good with multiple touchdowns in every game since Week 4 -- he has two games with 3-4 TDs, too. Bortles has been a top-10 QB on the season, but for some reason he’s not owned in all leagues. Plus, his schedule is outstanding. Looking ahead, he gets the Tennessee Titans, San Diego Chargers, the Titans again, the Indianapolis Colts, the Atlanta Falcons and the New Orleans Saints in fantasy championship week. If for some reason, he’s on the wire, get him.

Tyrod Taylor, Buffalo Bills (owned in 46 percent of leagues)

He hasn’t quite up to par in his first two games back. He only had 181 and 158 yards in those two games with one score in each, too. Things should get better for Tyrod, though. He gets the New England Patriots this week, which should be a productive game for him based on how the Patriots are a little banged up. Plus, Taylor had the best game of his career against them back in Week 2.

The Bills also have a few extra days off, so guys like Sammy Watkins should be closer to 100 percent. He also has a favorable schedule going forward and most of his games are on the road, too. That means he’s less likely to have to deal with bad Buffalo weather.

Brock Osweiler, Denver Broncos (owned in 1 percent of leagues)

It looks like Peyton Manning is going to miss some time. Osweiler got out there in Week 10 and was pretty solid, passing for 146 yards and one score. Osweiler obviously won’t be a must-add player in 12-team formats, but there are a lot of owners who have some quarterback issues. Plus, if you drafted Peyton Manning, you are probably a little weak at that position to being with.

Mark Sanchez, Philadelphia Eagles (owned in 1 percent of leagues)

Sam Bradford could miss some time with a shoulder sprain. Obviously there is some risk with Sanchez because he’s one of the most inconsistent quarterbacks in the past decade, but he did have some bright spots with the Eagles last year. The Eagles also have a very nice schedule with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Detroit Lions and New England Patriots in the next three weeks. This is obviously just a desperation pickup here.
