Cotto (40-4, 33 KO) and Alvarez (45-1-1, 32 KO) are both stars in the sport, with legitimate fan bases that overfilled the ballroom at the venue for Friday’s weigh-in. In doing so, the two also renewed the historically huge Puerto Rico vs. Mexico rivalry. Apart from Mayweather-Pacquiao, this is definitely the biggest fight of the year on American soil, and has kicked up some real interest inside the sport.
The fight will be televised around the world tonight, with the pay-per-view card starting at 9 p.m. ET, 6 p.m. PT. Cotto-Canelo will air on HBO pay-per-view in the United States with a price of $69.95 for HD, and $59.95 for SD. BoxNation in the UK will have the fight, and in Australia, Main Event PPV will carry the bout. Canal Space has the fight for Latin America, with RPC 4 in Panama also airing the show.
