It’s finally Thanksgiving, which means it’s time to crown one of America’s top dogs at the National Dog Show. The event, now in its fourteenth year, will air Thursday at noon on NBC.

The show, which will feature 1,700 purebred dogs competing for the title of Best in Show, will be hosted by actor John O’Hurley, best known for his role as Mr. Peterman on Seinfeld. He’ll be joined by David Frei, an expert purebred analyst from USA Network’s Westminster Kennel Club, and NBC sportscaster Mary Carillo, who will provide reporting from the benching area and inside the ring.
This year’s show will feature a total of 199 breeds, including seven new ones: the Lagotto Romagnolo (sporting group), the Berger Picard (herding group), the Miniature American Shepherd (herding group), the Bergamasco (herding group), the Spanish Water Dog (herding group), the Cirneco dell’Etna (hound group) and the Boerboel (working group).
NBC’s coverage includes a two-hour special that will directly follow the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
