San Diego Chargers wide receiver Malcom Floyd left Monday night’s game against the Chicago Bears early in the second quarter after falling down hard on his left side while attempting to catch a pass. Quarterback Philip Rivers targeted him on a deep second-down pass along the left sideline, but missed high.
Chargers injuries are piling up Monday night against the Bears
The Chargers have had some of the worst injury trouble of any team this season.

The Chargers initially announced that Floyd was questionable to return with a shoulder injury. After he was taken into the locker room for further evaluation, he was ruled out.
On Tuesday, the Union-Tribune’s Michael Gehlken reports that Floyd suffered a torn labrum, which puts the rest of his season in doubt.
Later, cornerback Jason Verrett -- who had been having an excellent game, blanketing Alshon Jeffery and returning and interception for a touchdown -- pulled himself out with a groin injury. Fellow cornerback Patrick Robinson, who suffered a concussion last week, left with a neck injury. Both players were announced as questionable.
Defensive end Kendall Reyes also suffered a scare late in the game, but it appears he’ll be okay.
Those fresh names prolong what has been an awful season for San Diego for injuries. Floyd was expected to play a larger role Monday night after the team lost top wideout Keenan Allen for the season last week with a lacerated kidney. The team has players missing up and down the offense and defense, including tight end Ladarius Green, offensive tackles King Dunlap and Orlando Franklin, and linebackers Denzel Perryman and Manti Te’o
Floyd has said that he intends to make 2015 his last year in the NFL. If he receives his worst prognosis, it may be the last we’ve seen of the 34-year-old in an NFL uniform. The Chargers now have just three receivers available for Monday’s game: Stevie Johnson, Dontrelle Inman and Javontee Herndon.
The Chargers still have Brandon Flowers, Eric Weddle and company in the secondary, but Verrett was the star Monday night. Jeffery had three catches for 73 yards on the drive on which Verrett left.
