Dota 2 pro taunts Reddit doubters with ‘Mama Said Knock You Out’ hype video

James Dator has been covering a wide range of sports for SB Nation for over a decade, with a special focus on the NFL.
It’s been an up-and-down couple of years for Alliance since the Swedish team shocked the world and ran roughshod through The International 3. What happened following their big win was a series of floundering performances, roster changes and general disappointment for Alliance fans. Then the team announced they would be getting the band back together for one more try -- support player EGM was returning.
The move was met with a lot of skepticism from Dota fans, particularly on Reddit. There was a sense that adding EGM didn’t really fix the team’s core problems. Their style was out of favor in the meta and this would be the next in a long line of unsuccessful roster moves.
Then World Cyber Arena happened. The tournament saw some of the best teams in the world head to China to face off for a $370,000 prize pool. Alliance were seen as being on the outside looking in, as they have been since TI:3 -- but everything started to click for them. Ultimately they ran through CDEC, Wings Gaming and LGD Gaming en route to the win. AdmiralBulldog felt the need to speak to his critics after the tournament.
“Alliance is back!” has been the hit meme of the summer, but maybe it’s all coming true.
