All LaVine did was earn back-to-back 50s on his first two dunks that sent the arena and social media into a uproar. He went through the legs and finished with a one-handed reverse on the first and then followed it with a behind-the-back jam that looked entirely too easy. The Timberwolves guard is only 19, but his overall assortment of dunks was probably the best in a decade. He avoided props, kept his introductions simple and let the dunks do the talking -- and boy, did they ever.
Oladipo was a worthy competitor, but failed to throw down a couple of his more ambitious second round attempts, leaving it wide open for LaVine to take the crown. LaVine did it with authority, ending the night by swooping in with this between-the-legs alley-oop finish.
Giannis Antetokounmpo and Mason Plumlee were both quietly eliminated in the first round. Antetokounmpo failed to land his first dunk in three tries, while Plumlee actually threw down a couple solid jams that just didn't look all too impressive because he's 6'10.
Oladipo’s first dunk was the next most impressive of the night -- a spinning reverse somewhere between 360 and 540 degrees, depending how specific you’d like to be with the math -- but it was LaVine’s night and nothing anyone else could do would steal his thunder.
