Montrezl Harrell spikes a ball off his opponent’s face mid-play

That’s not okay!

Montrezl Harrell grabbed a rebound against Miami, and decided the wise thing to do was to chuck that ball as hard as he could at the face of the opposing center, Tonye Jekiri:

You can’t really interpret Harrell’s spike as anything besides an intentional act of aggression. The only reason you’d try to throw a ball as hard as you could at another player is if you were falling out of bounds, and the other player was in-bounds. But in this scenario, that’s the opposite -- Harrell should’ve tried hold onto the ball to retain possession for his team, not, you know, hurl it as hard as he can.

Harrell was assessed a technical foul for the incident, which is lucky -- if this was a dead ball situation and he threw a ball at somebody, he probably would’ve been ejected.

Earlier in the season, Harrell was ejected from a game for throwing a punch against Western Kentucky.
