Kevin Garnett bought 1,000 tickets to give away to Timberwolves fans

Kevin Garnett’s return to Minnesota has been so, so cool.

Jesse Johnson-USA TODAY Sports

As a sign of appreciation, Kevin Garnett has purchased 1,000 tickets to the Timberwolves’ Monday night game against the Clippers. The tickets will be available to the first 500 people who claim a pair at the team’s website beginning 9 a.m. Monday morning.

The love between KG and Minnesota fans in his homecoming to the place where he began his career has been kinda gorgeous. The fan reaction to his introduction for his first game home was breathtaking. Garnett even got really happy when he saw the big shirtless dancing guy again. For a guy who’s spent most of his career as an obsessive, frightening character bashing his head into basket stanchions and berating any teammate or coach or ref in his way, it’s awesome to see him positively giddy to be an old guy on a young team.
