Georgia State immediately gave off a Cinderella vibe after its instant classic on Thursday, including the viral moment of R.J. Hunter nailing a game-winning three-pointer against No. 3 Baylor and his dad falling off his chair moments later while coaching on the sideline.
2015 NCAA bracket: Everyone’s favorite Cinderella Georgia State falls to Xavier
Georgia State looked like it had the potential of making a Sweet 16 run but couldn’t beat a strong Xavier squad.

But their run ended on Saturday against a No. 6 Xavier team that’s solid all around. The Musketeers beat No. 14 Georgia State 75-67 in a game that was surprisingly close, all things considered. Xavier shot an incredible 67.6 percent from the floor and out-rebounded the Panthers 23-12. Georgia State refused to die, hitting a key shot every time Xavier looked like it might pull away.
Xavier's superior talent and size won out in the end. Myles Davis came off the bench to nail five three-pointers in eight attempts, including a back-breaker with 1:35 left that gave Xavier a 10-point lead. Jalen Reynolds had a career night off the bench with 21 points on 8-of-9 shooting, while Matt Stainbrook only took five shots but made four of them, finishing with nine points and six rebounds.
After a couple of deep bombs in the first half, R.J. Hunter didn’t score for the first 12 minutes of the second half. He finished with 20 points on 6-of-15 shooting for Georgia State.
In the Sweet 16 next weekend, Xavier will face Arizona, who shut down D’Angelo Russell and beat Ohio State 73-58 to advance on Saturday.
