An extremely scary moment occurred at the Pirates-Cubs game at PNC Park on Monday evening. Starlin Castro was at the plate to start the top of the second inning and A.J. Burnett was pitching, when this happened:

Yes, there was a protective netting behind home plate, but that netting flexes and the fan who was struck was just standing too close to it at exactly the wrong time.
The game is delayed after a foul ball hit someone through the protective netting directly behind home plate. Being tended to now.

Cubs-Pirates back underway after a 22-minute delay. The injured woman was carted off on a stretcher. Will provide updates when available

A scary moment here in the 2nd as a fan is hit with a foul ball. Our thoughts and prayers are with her tonight.

Update: According to the Pirates, the woman was taken to a local hospital where she was conscious and alert.
