Phoenix Mercury star Brittney Griner and her fiancée, Glory Johnson, were arrested Wednesday for alleged assault and disorderly conduct, according to reports.

Griner, who was released from jail around 4:30 a.m. Thursday, was arrested at her home in Goodyear, Ariz., located approximately 20 miles west of Phoenix. Johnson, who also plays in the WNBA, was also arrested at that time.

The two were arrested after a domestic violence call brought police to their residence, according to a statement from the Goodyear Police Department. Police reported that both women suffered only minor injuries not needing medical attention and no weapons were involved.

“Goodyear Police received a 911 call at approx. 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday regarding a physical fight between the two subjects,” the statement read. “Upon arrival officers found the two had been in a physical fight with one another resulting in minor injuries to both. They were both arrested and booked into 4th Ave. jail on assault and disorderly conduct charges.”

Both Griner and Johnson’s respective teams prepared statements indicating they were investigating the incident.

“The Mercury organization is aware of an alleged incident involving Brittney Griner,” said Jim Pitman, the Phoenix Mercury executive vice president and general manager, in a prepared statement. “We are in the process of gathering additional information, and will have no further comment at this time.”

Griner has been with the Mercury since 2013. She helped the Mercury win the 2014 WNBA title. That season, she was named the Defensive Player of the Year and was selected as a member of the All-WNBA first team. Griner played collegiate basketball at Baylor University and was a three-time All-American. She was the No. 1 pick in the 2013 WNBA Draft.

Johnson spent the last three seasons as a forward with the Tulsa Shock, where she was selected to the All-Star team in 2013 and the All-Rookie team in 2012. She played collegiate ball for the University of Tennessee. She was the fourth-overall pick in the 2012 WNBA Draft.

“We are aware of the reports out of Phoenix regarding our player Glory Johnson,” Tulsa Shock president Steve Swetoha said in a prepared statement. “We are in the process of gathering information at this time. Of course our first concern is for Glory’s well-being and health. We are looking into the matter further and have no other comment to make at this time.”

The WNBA indicated in a statement the organization was looking into the situation.

The two became engaged in August 2014 and are expected to be married this year.
