Major League Baseball announced suspensions Saturday for six players involved in the brawl that took place Thursday between the Kansas City Royals and Chicago White Sox. Seven players received undisclosed fines. Barring appeals, all suspensions will begin Sunday in Chicago for the last game of the series between the two teams.
MLB suspends Yordano Ventura, 5 additional players for Royals-White Sox brawl
The six Royals and White Sox players combined for 26 games of suspension for their role in Thursday’s benches-clearing brawl.

For the third time in as many starts, Yordano Ventura was involved in a benches-clearing altercation. This time he paid for it with more than a fine like before, getting slapped with the heaviest penalty, a seven-game suspension after he swore at White Sox batter Adam Eaton
White Sox starters Chris Sale and Jeff Samardzija were suspended five games each, as well as Royals pitcher Edinson Volquez. Sale was said to have gone to the Royals' clubhouse in the eighth inning, attempting to rekindle the fight. Asked about it at the time, Sale declined to confirm or deny the rumor.
Kelvin Herrera, who previously had been served with a five-game suspension for his role in the altercation on April 17 against the Oakland Athletics, also earned a two-game suspension, which brings his total to seven games. Lorenzo Cain received a two-game suspension for his part in in the incident.
The only player who was suspended Saturday but not ejected at the time of Thursday's incident was Herrera, but MLB deemed that he had played more than enough of a role to warrant the suspension. White Sox catcher Tyler Flowers, while not suspended, received an undisclosed fine.
It was later announced that all of the players suspended had chosen to appeal. Any player electing to appeal a decision of this nature is permitted to play until the process is complete.
