Ben Simmons, the LSU signee from Australia ranked as the top hoops recruit in the class of 2015, is playing in the Dick’s Sporting Goods High School Nationals with 2nd-ranked Montverde Academy. And he did something we’re not sure we’ve seen before:

Behind the back passes are over. Ben Simmons passed the ball behind his butt.
He looked to be transferring the ball from his left hand to his right behind the back, but instead of continuing with his right, he gathered the ball with both hands behind his butt and just kinda pooped it off to a waiting teammate. He had a flock of teammates behind him, so he didn’t have to be super precise, but he passed the ball blindly with a part of your wrist you don’t normally use for passing, which is pretty impressive.
He also got absolutely dropped by fellow 5-star recruit Derryck Thornton, one of the top 10 players in the class of 2016:
