John Calipari and the Kentucky Wildcats have agreed on a deal that will extend his contract by one year and $8 million, according to Matt Jones of Kentucky Sports Radio.
John Calipari, Kentucky reportedly agree to contract extension
Coach Cal adds one year and $8 million to a deal that will now keep him in Lexington through 2022.

The deal -- which comes amidst persisting rumors of NBA suitors -- prolongs his stay through the 2021-22 season and brings his total contract to seven years, $54 million. He’ll also bag a $1.6 million longevity bonus on July 1.
The deal is expected to become official in the next several days.
The Wildcats flirted with history last season, starting 38-0 before picking up their first loss in the Final Four against Wisconsin. Seven members of that team jumped ship in April, declaring early for the NBA Draft.
Calipari -- never one to hurt for reinforcements -- will reload with the country’s No. 2 ranked recruiting class in 2015, a group that includes Skal Labissiere (No. 2 in the ESPN 100), Isaiah Briscoe (No. 13) and Charles Matthews (No. 42).
Calipari joined Kentucky in 2009 following a successful nine-year tenure at Memphis. He has led the Wildcats to three Final Four appearances in six seasons and won the national championship in 2012.
