Zach Mettenberger seems to be the odd man out in the Titans’ QB situation -- last year’s sixth-round draft pick wasn’t too bad when he took over after injuries to Jake Locker and Charlie Whitehurst, but nobody expects him to be the long-term starter after the team picked Marcus Mariota second overall in the NFL Draft.
Zach Mettenberger challenges Marcus Mariota to FIGHT TO THE DEATH
Lots of teams have “QB battles” but Zach Mettenberger wants to have an actual QB BATTLE.

But Zach Mettenberger’s job isn’t to let Marcus Mariota take his job. Zach Mettenberger’s job is to be the best dang QB Zach Mettenberger can be. And HE’S GOING TO FIGHT.
“I don’t [know] what the mind-set is, but at the end of the day I can just control what I do and I’m extremely confident in myself, almost to a fault,” Mettenberger said. “But people who know me know I’m not going down without a fight to the death.”

Y’all thought football was dangerous because of concussions. Nah. Football is dangerous because Zach Mettenberger has a mace and he’s gonna put it right through your skull and brain if you try to take his job.
Honestly, we’d probably put our money on Marcus in both the QB battle and the fight to the death, but we’ll see who walks out of training camp alive.
