NBA Draft 2015 results: Celtics select Marcus Thornton
Boston takes yet another guard.

The Boston Celtics have selected William & Mary guard Marcus Thornton with the 45th overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft. Thornton joins fellow guards Terry Rozier and R.J. Hunter as rookies on the Celtics next season.
Thornton is a high-volume scorer that nearly led William & Mary to the NCAA Tournament last season. He averaged 20 points a game for the Tribe while shooting 45 percent from the field, a solid mark for someone that used so many possessions. He's a versatile scorer that can put the ball in the bucket from the perimeter, off screens and as a cutter.
It’s not clear, however, if he’s big enough to score on the NBA level. Nevertheless, he could carve out a role as a microwave scorer, though it’ll be tough to break into the Celtics’ deep backcourt.
It's ironic that Boston picked a rookie named Marcus Thornton after trading a different high-scoring guard named Marcus Thornton to Phoenix in Feburary to acquire Isaiah Thomas.
