Singh is the first Indian-born player to be taken the NBA Draft.
Singh is an enormous big man, standing 7’2 and weighing in at 290 pounds, yet he has a soft touch that’ll allow him to shoot three-pointers. He’s actually be on NBA radars for years, as our Rodger Sherman explains:
Everything Singh must improve is related to his athleticism, whereas he’s already acquired some hard-to-develop basketball skills. For a player with Singh’s background, that’s surprising. For a player with Singh’s physical attributes, that’s downright incredible. The upside is obvious and astounding.
The 19-year-old is still very raw and is likely several years away from having a chance to contribute. Still, he’s a worthy gamble this late in the draft.
The Kings made history by signing Sim Bhullar last year, but while he was of Indian descent, he wasn’t drafted and was actually born in Canada. Singh is therefore the first indian-born player to be drafted.
