For as long as John Calipari has been putting together really, really good teams at Kentucky, people have been saying he’d leave the college ranks for the pros. In 2013, he was headed to the Knicks. In 2014, he was headed to the Cavs.
John Calipari is SO FED UP with rumors he’s leaving Kentucky for the NBA
People keep saying John Calipari is going to ditch Kentucky for the NBA. He wants them to stop.

A few weeks ago, he was headed to the Pelicans to coach Anthony Davis. He heard those rumors and wanted people to know they were inaccurate.
Even though Anthony and Tyreke are in NOLA, I have no interest in the Pelicans or any other job. I have a great job and I'm happy at UK.
— John Calipari (@UKCoachCalipari) May 19, 2015 Now, he's supposedly headed to the Kings to be their head coach and GM. Oh man, he does not like those rumors even one bit.
For the 100th time, I have the best basketball coaching position in the world. I am not looking for any other coaching position.
— John Calipari (@UKCoachCalipari) June 30, 2015 At no time has @Vivek offered me a job. I WILL BE AT KENTUCKY.
— John Calipari (@UKCoachCalipari) June 30, 2015 We don’t know for sure if Calipari will take the Sacramento job, but he’s never taken any of the other jobs. He makes more than $7 million annually, which would make him one of the NBA’s top five highest-paid coaches. He seems pretty happy at Kentucky, and he’s EXTREMELY VOCAL whenever anybody brings up the possibility of him taking another job. Maybe that’s a smokescreen, but ... maybe he just wants to stay at Kentucky and make a lot of money and win a lot of games?
Either way, because Calipari is a former NBA coach who focuses a lot of his attention on getting his players to the NBA, the talk of him perhaps leaving for the NBA will continue until he either retires or does it. And until one of those things happens, he’ll keep getting upset about the insinuations.
